DELINEATING EXISTING STRUCTURES

The proposition is to thread a route through the three existing warehouse blocks connecting the usages. Along this route the university functions will occur adjacent to the route with a series of public and semi public spaces acting as moments of orientation within the building and the city. The changing public and private spaces cause tensions between the two realms whilst allowing the university to have an outward expression.

EXISTING FUNCTIONS OF MIMAR SINAN FINE ARTS UNIVERSITY

The Findikli Building is the current home for the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture at the Mimar Sinan University. the building combines the usages of teaching, research and exhibition but is lacking in space for an expanding university.

The university functions in a linear manner with an internal street with connecting spaces for the above usages.

SPATIAL EXPLORATION

This is an initial study looking at spatial relationships between university accommodation and functions required for fine art and architectural studios, workshops and exhibition spaces.
